Cheri has always been drawn to the fascinating dynamics of how the mind and the body work together and how this mind/body connection powers our ability to achieve our highest potential. Her passion for helping people led her to create her business, Athletic Mind, LLC a decade ago. She works to enable others to strengthen their own personal physical and mental resources and discover the means to fulfill their goals. She works as a Performance and Life Coach with individuals and teams/groups to empower and realize their true potential. Cheri views Yoga as an essential part of her complete mind/body practice. As a yoga teacher, Cheri helps others access the elements of yoga that strengthen us physically along with greater mental clarity and contentment. She works to synthesize Yoga philosophy with the mental conditioning aspects and tools that she teaches. Cheri sees yoga as a vehicle to enhance her students' mental focus, surpass personal limits, aide in the ability to withstand pressure and distractions, as well as help one gain an overall deeper understanding of themselves. 

Teacher Training Program: I did my 200hr with the Alignment Yoga group based our of Madison.  I am currently finishing my 500hr with Yoga One studio in Cedarburg.  

Style: I am mostly a Vinyasa Flow teacher, but have a thorough education that is alignment based. 


Favorite practice style: I love a classic Vinyasa Flow but also like Power Flow and Restorative.  It depends on what my body and mind needs!

Hometown: I grew up in Richfield MN, right by Minneapolis MN.


Fav restaurant in lake country: Of course it is Zesti in Hartland! 


Favorite drink at Birch and Banyan: My favorite drink at B&B is the cold brew with a splash of cream. 


Outdoor activity of choice: I love to road bike and do it outdoors in the summer and at Bicycle Barn in the winter.  I also love downhill skiing! 

Favorite lake spot: Paddle boarding on Beaver Lake


Other hobbies: Running, biking, philanthropy (Ann’s Hope Foundation), kids activities and visiting them at college, drinking wine.

Fav posture: Camatkarasana (Wild Thing) - Its a freeing backbend that is accessible and strong. 

Challenging Posture: Pincha Mayurasana (Forearmstand)- I am working on trying to do this pose without the wall! 

Fav yoga prop: I am a huge fan of the block.  I think it is useful for even the most advanced student.  We often can get deeper into poses with use of the block with ideal alignment.
